Welcome to Our Church

where spiritual growth and meaningful connections flourish. Experience insightful worship, vibrant fellowship, and opportunities to engage with compassionate service.

We believe that the Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to mankind, with His ultimate revelation being the Gospel message of redemption through Jesus Christ.

Floyd Baptist Church was originally organized in the year 1876 under the name of Jacksonville Baptist Church. Since its very beginning and continuing through to the present day, we have faithfully strived to carry out the Great Commission as the Lord Jesus Christ has clearly directed. It remains our utmost desire and commitment to lead lost souls to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, and to serve as a shining light of hope and faith within the community where we live, worship, and serve.

This church accepts the following as a brief statement of its Articles of Faith the same being its corporate interpretation of the Holy Bible as it speaks on these basic concerns of the faith: (Scriptural references for the following may be found in “The Baptist Faith and Message”. It is also noted that the word “man” is used throughout “The Baptist Faith and Message: to represent mankind as a whole, both male and female.

  • Statement of Faith

  • The Trinity

We affirm that there is one God, infinite Spirit, creator of the universe in six historical days, and sustainer of all things, who exists eternally in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence but distinct in person and function.

  • God the Father

We affirm that the Father is the first person of the Trinity and the source of all that God is and does. From Him the Son is eternally generated and from Them the Spirit eternally proceeds. He is the designer of creation, the speaker of revelation, the author of redemption, and the sovereign of history.

  • Jesus Christ, the Son of God

We affirm that the Lord Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity. Eternally begotten from the Father, He is God. He was conceived by the virgin Mary through a miracle of the Holy Spirit. He lives forever as perfect God and perfect man: two distinct natures inseparably united in one person.

  • The Holy Spirit

We affirm that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, proceeding from the Father and Son and equal in deity. He is the giver of all life, active in the creating and ordering of the universe: He is the agent of inspiration and the new birth; He restrains sin and Satan; and He indwells and sanctifies all believers.

  • God

We believe that there is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being.

  • The Scriptures

We affirm that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, though written by men, was supernaturally inspired by God so that all its words are the written true revelation of God, it is therefore inerrant in the originals and authoritative in all matters. It is to be understood by all through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, its meaning determined by the historical, grammatical, and literary use of the author’s language, comparing Scripture with Scripture.

  • Humanity

We affirm that God created humans as male and female in His image, and that life is to be respected and guarded from conception until natural death. As image bearers, they are responsible under God for understanding and governing themselves and the world. Adam, the first man, willfully disobeyed God having been tempted by Satan, bringing sin and death into the world. As a result, all persons are sinners separated from God due to their sin nature, which is evidenced in their willful acts of sin; and they are therefore subject to eternal punishment, under the just condemnation of a holy God.

  • The Work of Christ

We affirm that Jesus Christ offered Himself as a sacrifice by the appointment of the Father. He fulfilled the demands of God by His obedient life, died on the cross in full substitution and payment for the sins of all, was buried, and on the third day He arose physically and bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven where He now intercedes for all believers.

  • Salvation

We affirm that each person can be saved only through the work of Jesus Christ, through repentance of sin and by faith alone in Him as Savior. The believer is declared righteous, born again by the Holy Spirit, turned from sin, and assured of heaven.

  • The Church

We affirm that there is one church, the body and bride of Christ, and that it is expressed in local assemblies of baptized believers under the discipline of the Word of God and the lordship of Christ. Its mission is to glorify God by making disciples who love God and love people. It administers the ordinances of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The church is led by pastors and deacons. It is self-governing and functions through the ministry of gifts given by the Holy Spirit to each member.

  • Marriage and Family

We affirm that marriage is designed and instituted by God to unite one man and woman in a lifetime covenant with Him and each other. It exists to foster holy, intimate companionship; to serve as an illustration of the relationship between Jesus and His church; and to have and raise children in the faith.

  • The Return of Christ

We affirm that the return of Christ for all believers in the rapture is imminent. It will be followed by seven years of great tribulation, and then the coming of Christ to establish His earthly kingdom for a thousand years. The unsaved will then be raised and judged according to their works and separated forever from God in hell along with Satan and his demons. The saved, having been raised, will live forever in heaven in fellowship with God and his holy angels.

  • Creation

We affirm that all things were created by God. Angels were created as ministering agents, though some, under the leadership of Satan, fell from their sinless state to become agents of evil. The universe was created in six historical days and is continuously sustained by God; thus it both reflects His glory and reveals His truth. Human beings were directly created, not evolved, in the very image of God. As reasoning moral agents, they are responsible under God for understanding and governing themselves and the world.

  • Man

We believe that man was created by the special act of God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by His creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan, man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence; whereby his posterity inherit a nature and environment inclined toward sin, and as soon as they are capable of moral action become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore every man possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

  • God's Purpose of Grace

We believe that election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is a glorious display of God’s sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility.

  • Regeneration

Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God’s grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. Repentance is a genuine turn from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Savior. Justification is God’s gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer into a relationship of peace and favor with God.

  • Sanctification

Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God’s purposes, and is enables to progress toward moral and spiritual perfection through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growth in grace should continue through the regenerate person’s life.

  • Glorification

Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed.

  • Perseverance of the Saints

We believe that all true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, bring reproach on the cause of Christ, and temporal judgements on themselves, yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.
